Background

In July 2021, over 80 out of Nigeria’s 109 Senators publicly voted against electronic transmission of results, which indeed, is the surest way, to conduct transparent, fair and credible elections in Nigeria. The refusal by most Senators to support electronic transmission of results by INEC, has inarguably confirmed the fact that most Nigeria’s ruling elites do not have the trust of the voting masses. That means, a larger number of Nigeria’s ruling elites and other top politicians will always loose out in a fair and credible election. Hence, the only way they get elected is by rigging. Therefore, it is not a surprise that over 80 Senators voted against electronic transmission of results.

Why CISCAES was Formed

CIVIL SOCIETY COMMITTEE FOR ANTI-FRAUD ELECTION SECURITY (CISCAES) was formed out of the critical necessity to provide a platform for eligible Nigerian voters to take full charge, ownership or control of the country’s elections by enforcing a peaceful, transparent and credible electoral process, which enables the voting masses to choose their own political leaders rather than the imposition of leaders by the ruling elites, INEC or the judiciary. This AIM is designed to be achieved by employing political education, non-violent activism and peaceful advocacy, as tools and sustainable means for compelling key political stakeholders, including federal government, INEC, security agencies, judges, the judiciary, candidates, political parties and support groups, to imbibe good conduct and play the rules.

News

Nigeria’s biggest hindrance to good political leadership is the country’s corrupt electoral process and its inability to conduct credible elections capable of producing qualified and competent political leaders.

In 21 years, democracy has yielded no tangible dividends for Nigerians. Most political officeholders do not see the need to provide accountable and good leadership because they rely more on winning elections by rigging than by the votes of the electorates

The Case of Anambra

What is currently playing out in Anambra State, is truly an indication that some highly influential political stakeholders and interest groups are involved in the ongoing power play and high politics of the 2021 Anambra guber-poll.

Our Role in Anambra

The best way to assist the candidates contesting the forthcoming 2021 Anambra guber-poll, is to stop or hinder the abuse and manipulations of the election and its voting process, by the forces and powers that be. This is the role CISCAES will play in Anambra State, during its forthcoming 2021 guber-poll. It is expected that all candidates and political parties should be given equal opportunities to participate in the electoral contest.

CISCAES aims to foster in Anambra State, a level playing ground, which will guarantee a fair and healthy electoral contest for all candidates and political parties.

CISCAES is a multifaceted electoral anti-corruption action committee whose mandate is to ensure the safety of the electoral process and the integrity of the ballots with a view to assuring a credible and widely acceptable outcome.

Our Mandate

To tackle threats of violent conflicts and checkmate fraudulent practices, specifically on the part of federal government, INEC, security agencies, candidates, political parties, support groups, judges and the judiciary, wholly in response to the need for all key political actors, to play by the rules, as part of the efforts to ensure a safe and credible electoral process, whose outcome is widely acceptable
